Retold

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

The short version. Retold does not collect your data, does not require an account, and does not upload anything. Your photos, videos, and the stories you make stay on your device.

This policy explains how the Retold mobile app ("Retold", "we", "us") handles your information. By using Retold, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

None. Retold has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no servers that receive your information. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, device identifiers, or usage analytics. We do not track you, and we do not use advertising.

Your photos and videos

When you choose photos or videos to add to a collage, Retold copies them into the app's own private storage on your device so it can display, edit, and export them. This media:

Permissions

Retold asks only for access to your photos and videos — so you can pick media to add and, when you choose, save your finished story back to your gallery. That access is used solely on your device for those purposes. Retold does not request your location, contacts, microphone, or any other unrelated permission.

Sharing and exporting

When you export or share a story, the file is handled by your device's own share sheet or saved to your gallery — an action you start. If you choose to send your story to another app (for example Instagram, Facebook, or a messaging app), that app receives the file and its own privacy policy then applies. Retold has no control over, and no visibility into, what those apps do.

Analytics, ads, and third-party services

Retold contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not share data with third parties, because we do not collect any.

Note: the operating system and the app store you downloaded Retold from (Apple App Store or Google Play) may collect standard technical or diagnostic information — such as crash reports or download counts — under their own privacy policies. That collection happens at the platform level, not by Retold, and we do not receive personally identifying information from it.

Children's privacy

Retold does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because there are no accounts and no data collection, the app does not knowingly gather data from users of any age.

Data security

Since your content never leaves your device, its security is governed by your device's own protections. We recommend keeping your device's operating system and screen lock up to date.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Retold handles information, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Retold after a change means you accept the updated policy.
